It started with the wrong team.
Hawks. Hawkeyes.
A few letters did a lot of work.
During the September 29, 2026 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Senator Eric Schmitt questioned former special counsel Jack Smith about attending an Atlanta Hawks game.
Smith explained that he had watched the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team play at Maryland. The attempted gotcha became a case of mistaken identity.
The internet took it from there: Schmitt asks an increasingly specific question. Smith politely explains that he’s thinking of someone else.
So, what is Wrong Jack?
A small, edited collection of our favorite exchanges. We find the good ones, credit the people who posted them, and keep the record open for more.
The exchanges in the collection are parody, not actual testimony. Original posts are linked. Where a longer joke has been shortened, it’s marked as an excerpt. Credit identifies the linked source; it isn’t a claim that we’ve established the first person to tell every joke.
